Cloud-based evaluation platform for software-defined manufacturing

Abstract Software-Defined Manufacturing (SDM) is a new paradigm for how to manufacture in the Industry 4.0 factory of future. The approach requires fundamental change thinking and reinvention central business models production technology. This paper discusses main challenges on way software-defined future illustrates possible solutions. An exemplary presented, which validation solutions carried out. For this purpose, cloud-based Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) considered as use case. Experimental results demonstrate proof concept show potential further applications.
